Area Information
Arriving into the combined resort of Didim & Altinkum you will see straight away where it gets its name from. Altinkum means golden sand and has several gloriously sandy beaches which gently shelve in the warm Aegean Sea. Located about 70km from Bodrum International
Airport, this up and coming resort has everything to offer the holiday maker or resident whilst maintaining its distinct Turkish feel. There are three large beaches in the resort, all of which offer various kinds of water sports and activities. Along the main beach, the promenade curves around, lined with various bars, shops and restaurants. Dining in Altinkum is varied and of a very high standard. Restaurants compete with international menus and traditional Turkish food. Although quite a sleepy resort during the day, Altinkum comes alive at night with its various bars and nightclubs. The resort has changed dramatically over the past few years. Whilst it still retains its Turkish charm, the resort has expanded and the main road leading you out of the resort will bring you past several supermarkets, to the adjacent town of Didim. On a Saturday you will be mixing with the locals at the market. The market sprawls out and offers a wide variety of goods.
