ABRUCENA:
A small village located on the N 324 & A 92 roads between Guadix & Almería
Just 60 km from the airport in Almeria and 20 km from the nearest train station.

Among its architectural heritage include El Castillejo, Chapel of St. Jose, Ermitilla de las Animas and Church. The nature of the area also offers beautiful scenery, especially the Sierra Nevada. We recommend visiting the town during the festivities feast of San Anton (January 16), San Jose (Second Saturday in May), Summer Celebration (August), Andalusia Day (February 28), Feast of the Cross of May ( May).

MONUMENTS:
Capilla de la Casa de las Monjas, Castillejo, Chapel of San. Jose, Chapel de las Animas, Church of Nuestra Señora de la Anunciación.

HISTORY:
Its origins go back to the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the remains of pottery found in Castillejo.
It was long inhabited by Muslims, land boundary between the coras of Pechina and Elvira, then step towards the hoyas high Gaudix and Baza and path of Grenada.
The Moorish revolt of 1568-70, stifled by the troops of the Marquis de Velez, had negative consequences for the area and caused the expulsion of the people from Abrucena. It was later repopulated with people in Grenada, La Mancha and Extremadura.
Abrucena obtains its independence and is incorporated in the province of Almeria in 1833-34
