Area Information
The alpine resort of Bansko is one of Europe’s fastest growing ski resorts and one of Eastern Europe’s largest. It has recently been voted Europe’s most improved resort in the 2006 Skiing and Snowboarding Guide. A Multi Million Euro investment has seen a huge improvement of the infrastructure making it more accessible and much more tourist friendly. The ski area is located in the Pirin Mountains and access is gained via a new high speed gondola. The skiing is ideal for beginners and intermediates, with enough ‘off piste’ skiing to challenge the more advanced skier. There is over 65km of marked ski runs.
The resort will also have an 18 hole Championship Golf Course, designed by Ian Woosnam, which is located 6 kilometres from the main town and is opening in 2008.
The après ski is especially good, with a wide range of traditional alpine bars and restaurants as well as newly opened night clubs. The cost of evening entertainment is a shade of that you would expect to be paying in the Alpine resort of France and Switzerland. The town still consists of 16th Century Churches and cobbled streets in some places, retaining a lot of its original culture
